This gorgeous travel poster was created by Parisian artist René Péan (1875-1955). A student of the master, Jules Chéret, he created a great number of spectacular posters between 1895 and 1905. He was also a painter and illustrator for French publications such as L'Illustration. He was a good friend of another poster master, Alfons Mucha. Two of his posters were chosen into the Maitres de l'Affiche collection.

The travel poster illustrates the l'Oisans, a region in the French Alps. Oisans is a vast Alpine territory 50 km from Grenoble, south of Savoy. It's is has been a favorite destination for mountain lovers for well over a century as this 1905 poster reveals. The Oisans is a very touristic region, both for winter and summer sports. Oisans regularly hosts the Tour de France as well as many major sporting events on a European scale (Super-Biker, World of Snowboarding, Skiing World, the Bike Festival, Andros Trophy or the Criterium Cyclist of Dauphiné Libéré).
